Movie Review: Spectre
Daniel Craig is back as 007 in what is likely to be his final go-around as James Bond. It is hard to write about this movie without giving too much away, but basically if you enjoyed Skyfall, Spectre is probably for you. I didn’t love Skyfall, but it had it’s moments, which is pretty much how I feel about Spectre.
The first half of the movie was full of awesome, classic Bond action scenes, including a thrilling fight aboard a helicopter to open to movie, and another climactic fight aboard a train reminiscent of a famous sequence between Sean Connery and Robert Shaw in From Russia With Love. This might have been my favorite Daniel Craig Bond film they had kept of the momentum, but unfortunately everything sort-of fell apart for me in the second half when thereal villain is introduced.
Things get personal, and in some moments laughable, between bond and his nemesis played by Christoph Waltz. Things are brought up from the past, in attempt to wrap up some previous plot-threads, that don’t really make sense. The villain has a chip on his shoulder that makes him seem weak. And Bond’steam is brought in at the end to do basically nothing.
Daniel Craig might be the best actor to play James Bond since Sean Connery. I hope he comes back for at least one more so he can go off on a better note.
