Movie Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the most entertaining and action-packed Marvel/Avengers movie to date. It features a really cool Samuel L. Jackson car chase (it feels like it’s been a while since I actually enjoyed Samuel L. Jackson in anything), another really cool fight scene in an elevator, and Robert Redford (another actor that I haven’t seen in anything I liked in quite some time). It was great to see Redford back in a fun movie, and his presence actually made it a better film. Why doesn’t he take roles like this more often?
Captain America is back, and better then ever, but also sad because all of his loved ones have passed away while he was frozen in a block of ice (or so we think???). He is not happy with the direction SHIELD is taking, shrouding everything in secrecy, and is considering getting out altogether. That is when things start to get crazy, with a potentially democracy-ending evil getting ready to spread across the USA, and it’s up to Captain America to fight this evil alone. I guess Iron Man, Thor, Spiderman, Hulk, and the rest of the Avengers crew are all busy? No phone calls, not even a mention of them from what I can recall. Seems like something that they might want to get some help on.
Anyway, I find all these Avengers movies to be really fun and Captain America 2 is definitely one of my favorites. There are enough twists and turns, along with some great action, to keep the audience entertained throughout, and really, what more can a movie-goer ask for in a summer blockbuster?
