Movie Review: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
This was a big suprise to me. For some reason, I was certain I wouldn’t like this movie. Directed by and starring Ben Stiller, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is about a day-dreamer, unsatisfied with his life, on the brink of loosing his job, who has to venture out into the real world, leaving the country for the first time, climbing mountains, riding helicopers, surviving shark attacks, and more.
It seems very predictible, but there are a few big suprises along the way and some big laughs as well. Ben Stiller has directed a number of movies in the past (The Cable Guy and Zoolander are among my favorites), and whileMittyis far from his funniest movie, it’s probably his most polished and mature. His directing style takes a turn here. I was moved by the big reveal at the end of the movie, and thoughout I was amazed by some of the visuals.
I would highly recommend this movie to people of all ages.
