Movie Review: Jack Reacher
Jack Reacher is a movie that starts out as an interesting mystery and by the end dissolves into a decent action movie. Tom Cruise stars in the title role and does a decent job, as he always does. He’s believable and likable as a journeyman ex-military cop who decides to lend his hand at catching a sniper and proving an old friend’s innocence in the process.
For me, the movie became less and less interesting as it went along. The fight scenes are cool, but there are some really cheesy moments throughout, which made it hard for me to take anything seriously. A scene in which Reacher escapes the police by putting on a hat and hopping on a bus was puzzling, as was Robert Duvall’s instance that Reacher go without a gun in the film’s climax.
Overall this was a fun movie to watch, and Tom Cruise, who think is unfairly criticized by most moviegoers, delivers a strong performance as a man who is described in the books as large and powerful. Not the best movie, but definitely worth checking out.
