Guardians of the Galaxy is the most bizarre and memorable action movie I’ve seen in a long time.\u00a0 Based on a Marvel comic book series, it is like no other Marvel film that’s been released, and yet it still fits into to the universe quite well.<\/p>\n
Starring Parks & Recreation’s Chris Pratt in his star-making role, Guardians features a talking raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper, and walking, talking tree named Groot voiced by Vin Diesel (although all he says is ‘I am Groot’, so not sure why they needed Vin Diesel), and various other aliens and creatures that seem more comfortable in a 1980’s science fiction flick then a Marvel superheroes action movie.<\/p>\n
What makes the movie so great is the comedy, and there’s a lot of it.\u00a0 In fact, it’s probably a comedy more then it is an action or science-fiction movie.\u00a0 Chris Pratt is known for a comedic role in Parks & Recreation, and he’s perfectly cast as Peter Quill.\u00a0 Kidnapped as a child from earth and raised by a group of a group of renegade bounty-hunters, Quill finds himself on a mission to save mankind from a destructive force (not much different from other superhero movie plotlines).<\/p>\n
Guardians was the surprise hit of the summer, and I can see why.\u00a0 It’s the most fun I’ve had at the movies in a while, and hits all the right notes.<\/p>\n
