In 1998, director Roland Emmerich brought us one of the most brilliant movies in the history of movies: Godzilla.\u00a0 It was so great, in fact, that in the 16 years since its release another Godzilla movie has not been made because Emmerich’s Godzilla set the bar too high.\u00a0 Finally, after years of waiting, Godzilla is back.\u00a0 And not only does it live up to the hype set by the 1998 original (the first Godzilla movie ever made, as far as I know), but it demolishes it.<\/p>\n
Godzilla is a giant, fat monster that, along with other alien bug-looking monsters, rises from the oceans to destroy the earth’s most populated cities.\u00a0 There’s really not much explanation as to why the monsters are attacking, why they hate earth so much, etc… it really doesn’t matter.\u00a0 The monsters are here and seemingly unstoppable.<\/p>\n
Godzilla was a huge hit at the box office at received favorable reviews from critics and audiences, and I can see why.\u00a0 It was fun watching giant monsters fight as the humans did everything they could to stop them.\u00a0 The acting was solid, the monsters looked real enough, and there was a lot of tension and excitement.\u00a0 But overall I was let down.\u00a0 I guess watching CGI monsters duel it out just doesn’t do it for me.<\/p>\n
