The Oscars were a couple of weeks ago, hosted by alleged funnyman Seth MacFarlane.\u00a0 You know what really grinds my gears? (family guy reference) The fact that people care about the Oscars.\u00a0 My favorite movies of 2012 included The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Hobbit, none of which were nominated for best picture.\u00a0 Argo won the award, and don’t get me wrong, I liked Argo, but it seems like the movies that win are always the really well-made, well-acted, well-choreographed, boring movies.\u00a0 Yes, I thought Argo was a bit boring.\u00a0 Everyone loves it, and I can see why.\u00a0 Like I said, it was very well-done.\u00a0 But I was bored.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Les Miserables (sp?) was also nominated.\u00a0 This has already been made into a better movie twice, and also this has been a play for years and all they did was just take the play and film it, which they already have on PBS (they play it during pledge drives to get people to donate.\u00a0 They should consider playing good shows at times other then pledge drives).\u00a0 Russell Crowe’s singing actually made me laugh throughout.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lincoln was another movie that was very educational, well-made, but slow, long, and boring.\u00a0 That seems to be a trend of best picture nominees: slow, long, and booring.\u00a0 Daniel Day-Lewis is one of my favorite actors, and I’m glad he won best actor, but I’d like to see him go to the Oscars in character as the character of the movie he’s currently working on.\u00a0 It would have been fun to see him go out as the milkshake guy from There Will Be Blood because people wouldn’t have seen the movie yet and would have wondered what was going on.\u00a0 Why’s Daniel talking like that?\u00a0 Whatever.<\/p>\n
Silver Linings Playbook was one of the movies that I actually really liked, and would have liked to see it win.\u00a0 I thought it was much better then David O. Russell’s last movie, The Fighter, which earned all kinds of unearned accolades.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Django Unchained: okay, but really overrated.\u00a0 Over-the-top, almost too Tarantino-ish.\u00a0 Amour: didn’t see.\u00a0 Sounds like another boring one.\u00a0 Life of Pi:\u00a0liked it.\u00a0 Zero Dark Thirty: haven’t seen yet, but actually really want to.<\/p>\n
Anyway, back to my original premise: the best movies are never nominated for anything, so why do we care?\u00a0 Oh, and Seth MacFarlane wasn’t very good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
