Eddie Murphy is back! Sort of\u2026 While Tower Heist is the funniest live action role Murphy\u2019s had since the mid-90s, that isn\u2019t really saying much. Still, Tower Heist was surprisingly fun to watch and had some really good moments, a lot of which involved Murphy, but more of them featured Matthew Broderick. The best part of the movie, however, is Casey Affleck, who manages to steal every scene in every movie he\u2019s in. You probably remember him best from Oceans 11 as one of the Mormon brothers from Provo, UT.<\/p>\n
Stiller plays the building manager, who takes responsibility when the entire staff loses their retirements. Alan Alda plays the stock broker who loses it all, and he just so happens to live in the tower\u2019s penthouse. After Alda is released from police custody and it appears he\u2019s going to get away with major financial fraud, Stiller decides to rob him, and enlists a team of Broderick, Affleck, and Murphy to help. <\/p>\n
Directed by Brett Ratner, who really isn\u2019t much of a filmmaker, the movie works because of its cast and some funny lines. I am also probably being generous because I didn\u2019t expect much. But Casey Affleck says some really laugh-out-loud stuff, and Broderick, as always, is perfect in the role of a down-on-his-luck ex-stock broker. <\/p>\n
If you\u2019re looking for something fun to watch and have a couple of hours to kill, you could do worse than Tower Heist.<\/p>\n
