Steven Spielberg is back with two movies late last year, and I saw one of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not sure, but it feels like Spielberg has lost his touch.\u00a0 He hasn\u2019t made a really good movie since 2002\u2019s Minority Report, and some of his most recent movies have been disasters (see Indiana Jones 4).\u00a0 Tintin is a bit of a return to form for Spielberg (although it\u2019s his first animated feature), and it certainly has it\u2019s moments, but overall it feels like he\u2019s trying too hard sometimes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Basically, it\u2019s an adventure movie involving an ancient treasure and Tintin\u2019s voyage across the world to find it.\u00a0 There are some fun moments along the way, and Spielberg makes good use of the freedom that animation allows during some of the bigger action sequences.\u00a0 In some ways I am reminded of the third (and my personal favorite) Indiana Jones movie.\u00a0 It\u2019s light-hearted, funny, and has some really fun and interesting set pieces.\u00a0 At one point there is a sword fight of sorts between two construction cranes.\u00a0 A case through an Egyptian city to catch a bird is also a lot of fun.<\/p>\n
Tintin is a good movie for the family.\u00a0 It will hold your interest and keep your kids entertained throughout.\u00a0 If you\u2019re a Spielberg fan, especially of his older adventure movies, you\u2019ll definitely want to see this.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll be disappointed, it\u2019s just that, much like with Indy 4, it feels like he\u2019s trying to make something that he might have made 20 years ago, but he simply has moved on and can\u2019t quite get the magic back.\u00a0 He\u2019s so close, but just barely misses the mark.<\/p>\n
